Madurai and Thoothukudi have become the new hot spots of Tamil film industry. Films shot in these places are said to make decent collections at the box office and the sentiment has many takers. Currently, Suriya’s new film ‘Singam’ directed by Hari on going full swing in and around Thoothukudi area.

With Thoothukudi steadily gaining importance a few businessmen in Thoothukudi have come together to make a film tentatively titled ‘Annachi Idhu Namma Kottai”. The pooja for the film was held at the Pothy Vinayagar Temple near new bus stand. Minister for Social Welfare Geetha Jeevan presided. Debutant N. Yogaraj, a native of Thoothukudi, is the director. A young girl Leema from Kerala is being introduced as the heroine. The film will be a social drama with action, romance and comedy all.

The highlight of the movie will be Ilaya Thilagam Prabhu donning the role of ‘Annachi’ which is a character associated with a particular community in Tamil Nadu. Exited playing as an Annachi for the first time, Prabhu according to his assistants is has already started getting character tips from supreme Star Sarath Kumar who belongs to that community. Great beginning indeed!
