‘Jaggubhai’ takes them to jail

Raids conducted all over Tamil Nadu following instructions from Chief Minister M Karunanidhi resulted in the arrest of those who had uploaded on the internet, produced and sold the DVDs of the yet-to-be released film ‘Jaggubhai’.

Following reports that the Sarath Kumar starrer was available on net besides being sold as DVDs, producers of the movie Radaan approached Karunanidhi seeking stringent action against those behind the act.

Based on the instructions from the Chief Minister, the police had arrested a 26-year-old Coimbatore based man for uploading the film on the internet. They also raided several places in Chennai, arrested one person and recovered nearly 10,000 copies of the DVDs of the film.

The police also recovered 8,000 empty VCDs, computer with 11 writer facilities and other equipment from the house of Abdul Jaffar, who was found copying the movie to DVDs at a house in Purasawalkam.

The raids were carried out by a joint action team formed under Central Crime Branch Deputy Commissioner C Sridhar.

Meanwhile, Radaan boss Radhika Sarath Kumar has thanked the Chief Minister and the police for their swift action and for bringing behind the bars those who had involved in the unruly act.
