Nowadays even successful and critically acclaimed films are being removed from theaters within a week or two. A film to cling on to the screens to reach the 50 day or 100 day mark should have a star with enormous fan following to lead the proceedings apart from the film pleasing the family audience. Vijay is one such star and his recent release Jilla which was a neatly packaged commercial entertainer has successfully crossed 100 days in a few screens all over Tamilnadu.

Yesterday (April 18) the ‘Ilayathalabathi’ took part in the event organized to celebrate this rare achievement and all the technicians and artiste’s who worked for the success of the film were felicitated.

Speaking at the function Vijay said the debut directors who come up with fresh and new ideas should have a control over the running time of the film. He suggested today a film may run up to a maximum of 150 minutes and if it goes beyond that audience start looking at their watch instead of screen.

Vijay felicitated his co-actors Mahat and Soori, Lycricist Vairamuthu and also the film’s director R.T.Neason. He stated his fans are the reason for the 100 day run of Jilla and also mentioned that more than him his fans are concerned about the success of his films.

Jilla had Malayalam superstar Mohanlal playing an important role and Kajal Aggarwal was the heroine.
