In what would be termed as real whopping amount, the Telugu rights for the first part of Ram Gopal Varma’s ambitious project ‘Raktha Charithra’ has been sold for Rs.12 crores by producer Madhu Mantena to Happy Movies.

The Happy Movies banner is formed by C.Kalyan, President of South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, Chinna Vasudeva Reddy, sitting MLA of Chittoor and Raj Kumar, who together bought the movie for the astronomical amount. Ram Gopal Varma’s strength lies in making serious and intense movies and hence the producers would have thought that ‘Raktha Charithra’ an ambitious project by the director would be a grosser with out a doubt.

Point to be noted is that this amount of Rs.12 crores is only for the first part as the director said that he is making a two part movie on the feud between Paritala Ravi and Maddelacheruvu Suri. The amount also includes satellite rights, it is learnt.

RGV has made serious intense and crime related movies like ‘Satya’, ‘Company’, ‘Sarkar’, etc which were all big hits. ‘Raktha Charithra’, based on a real life rivalry with classy actors Surya and Vivek Oberoi playing Suri and Ravi respectively, under the direction of Ram Gopal Varma, will surely be a ‘charithra’ changing movie.
