Here`s a look back at the movies which made us scream during the last ten years, and some might have not made the cash box ringing, but they all played a vital role in adding more colors to Diwali.

2004: 'Attagasam', 'Chatrapathy', 'Dreams' & 'Manmadhan'

2004: 'Attagasam', 'Chatrapathy', 'Dreams' & 'Manmadhan'

At the time when Simbu`s career going haywire, he gave the best performance to lift himself up and announced his arrival wonderfully. Manmadhan` went on to run for more than 150 days and emerged as a blockbuster. Ajith`s Attakasam` came second, while Dhanush`s Dreams` & Sarathkumar`s Chatrapathy` did not run for a long time to decide which one was 3rd & 4th.

2005: 'Sivakasi', 'Majaa', 'Thavamai Thavamirundhu' & 'Adhu oru kana Kaalam'

2005: 'Sivakasi', 'Majaa', 'Thavamai Thavamirundhu', & 'Adhu oru kana Kaalam'

Balumahendra`s Adhu Oru Kana Kaalam` performed poorly at the box office, and Vikram`s Majaa` ended up on the wrong side. Cheran`s Thavamai Thavamirundhu` had a good story, but it lost to Vija`'s commercial fare Sivakasi`.

2006: 'Vallavan', 'Vattaram', 'Dharmapuri', 'E', 'Varalaru' & 'Thalaimagan'

2006: 'Vallavan', 'Vattaram', 'Dharmapuri', 'E', 'Varalaru' & 'Thalaimagan'

Back then STR was Simbu, and Vallavan` was highly anticipated one because of Manmadhan`s humungous success. But, the movie was amateurish, and did not make huge profits. Arya`s Vattaram` was an average grosser, and Vijaykanth rode his fan power to keep his movie at the halls for a few weeks. S.P. Jananathan struck hard with a strong social message in simple terms, but did not go well with the audience and Sarathukumar`s Thalaimagan` was talked only for his 100th movie. It was Thala who won the race with his stupendous performance in Varalaru`.

2007: 'ATM', 'Kannamoochi yenda', 'Machakaaran', 'Polladhavan' & 'Vel'

2007: 'ATM', 'Kannamoochi yenda', 'Machakaaran', 'Polladhavan' & 'Vel'

2007 was once again a mixed Diwali. Vijay`s ATM` which was advertised as a new genre with ESP story base bombed heavily due to screenplay errors, and Machakaaran` sunk without a trace. Kannamoochi Yenada` did an average business at the A center, and Suriya`s Vel` garnered good collections at the B&C areas. But, it was Polladhavan`, the dark horse won the race and gave a new lease to Dhanush.

2008: 'Aegan' & 'Seval'

2008: 'Aegan' & 'Seval'

The word boring is an understatement for the 2008 Diwali. Aegan` the unofficial remake of Main Hoon Naa` and Seval` both failed big time at the box office. On a comparative scale, Aegan` was somewhat better.

2009: 'Peranmai' & 'Adhavan'

2009: 'Peranmai' & 'Adhavan'

After Ayan` there was so much at stake for Suriya`s Aadhavan` but the excitement did not last long. The movie lost to S.P. Jananathan`s Peranmai`, a political action thriller. Jayam Ravi got his much needed makeover with this movie, and the movie still attracts many viewers when it gets aired on TV.

2010: 'Mynaa', 'Uthamaputhiran' & 'Vallakottai'

2010: 'Mynaa', 'Uthamaputhiran' & 'Vallakottai'

Bala, Kamalhassan, and many more had great words to say about Mynaa` before its release, and Udhayanidhi Stalin`s promotions gave the much needed to push to Prabhu Solomon`s Mynaa`. The movie was acclaimed critically & commercially, and won the Diwali race hands down. On the other hand, Dhanush fared okay` with Uthamaputhiran`, which was a remake of a Telugu movie, and Vallakottai` vanished pretty quickly from the race.

2011: 'Velayutham' & '7aum Arivu'

2011: 'Velayutham' & '7aum Arivu'

It was all abut Vijay`s Commercial weapon and the much talked Bodhidarmar`s story in 2011. The expectation for the Suriya`s starrer was much better than the Velayudham`. But, both the movie failed to live up to the pre-release buzz. 7aum Arivu` did w
