The romantic drama is about a bomb defusal expert, an army officer Samar Anand (Shah Rukh Khan) whose fearlessness catches the eye of a Discovery Channel filmmaker Akira (Anushka Sharma). She happens to chance upon his personal diary in which his past experiences are recorded. Akira begins reading the diary and gets to know Samar's past in London where he meets Meera (Katrina Kaif) and falls in love with her. After reading the diary, Akira begins developing feelings for Samar. The rest of the story is about the twists and turns of how they fell in and out of love, whether Samar ends up with Meera or Akira. The special facet about 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' is the way the screenplay makes you forget time while watching it.

'Special 26' or 'Special Chabbis' is a heist thriller and was one of the best films of 2013, both a commercial success and was critically acclaimed. The story is based on a real life incident, the 1987 Opera House heist where a group posing as CBI officers executed an income tax raid on the Opera House branch of Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri in Mumbai. The masterminds of the heist in the film are Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher and the movie takes you through a ride filled with close calls, ample amount of twists and turns, making it an insane thriller not to be missed.
The role is ideal for Ajith since it has elements of playing an optimistic person who's gone astray to the dark side for reasons known best to him and Anupam Kher. This will show Ajith in various shades and will be a delight to watch on screen.
OMG – Oh My God!
A satire dramedy, 'OMG – Oh My God!' is about a middle-class atheist Hindu (Paresh Rawal) who loses his shop of Hindu idols and antiques in an earthquake. After his compensation from the disaster claim gets rejected as an "Act of God' by the insurance company, he decides to take the matter to the court of law. Circumstances lead to a point in the story where God (Akshay Kumar) appears in reality in aid of the hero. Whether the hero overcomes the obstacles on his path to win the case, whether God helps him win or not, whether the hero has a change of mind and heart over God-belief forms the rest of the crux of the story.
With 'OMG', Ajith has the potential to portray either of the two lead characters - be it the hero or in the role of God. The films packs a punch with its dialogues and to watch Ajith deliver some of the most powerful dialogues will be a treat for 'Thala' fans.

The film that won the Grand Rail d'Or at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival is one of the few roles that are tailor-made for Ajith. 'The Lunchbox' is about Saajan (Irrfan Khan), a lonely accountant about to retire from his job and Ila (Nimrat Kaur), a young wife looking for ways to put romance back in her marriage by cooking her way to her husband's heart. One day, a mixup between the famous "dabbawalas" leads to the lunchboxes getting delivered to the wrong person. After coming to know the error, Ila writes a note to the recipient of her lunch thanking him for enjoying the food and sends him her husband's favorite meal the following day. Slowly, a friendship is ignited between the two and they start sharing anecdotes about their lives. Where this friendship leads to and how and why gives us a riveting story filled with many emotional moments.
A performance-oriented movie, with 'The Lunchbox' we can get to see our 'Thala' in a calm and composed manner, yet displaying emotions in an appropriate manner. There won't be much hype or hoopla in 'The Lunchbox', but we can be sure that the story will leave our hearts 'full' and satisfied.

The film first made in Malayalam as 'Ramji Rao Speaking' in 1989 and then remade in Tamil as 'Arangetra Velai' in 1990 is a perfect film for Ajith to show off his skills in the comedy department. Despite being remade already in Tamil as 'Arangetra Velai' in 1990, the 'Hera Pheri' version brought in a few changes and made the story feel complete.
