A few months ago, everyone in town went crazy about actress Nayantara being assigned to act in director Lingusamy's film for a whooping remuneration of Rs. One Crore. Titled 'Paiyya', the movie was supposed to star 'Paruthiveeran' fame Karthi and Nayantara in lead roles. But the hype and hoopla surrounding the whole drama has been short-lived.

Nayantara announced in Chennai on Thursday that she is opting out of the project since the producer and director (Lingusamy) had urged her to reconsider her salary and cut down her price.

With a mediocre outing in her last three films (Kuselan, Satyam and Aegan) and a decision to opt out of 'Paiyya', Nayantara is obviously on a sticky wicket now.

According to Nayantara, 'I was assigned in July last to do the movie for a sum of Rs One Crore. The shooting was supposed to begin in September. Wonder why it was postponed. They announced that they would resume this month. Surprisingly they are now urging me to reduce my salary'.

Nayantara said, ' right from September, I missed out on several Tamil and Telugu projects for 'Paiyya'. Now they have put me in a spot of bother. Will they compensate me for my loss?'

'It looks that they have come out with a vendetta against me. It's unfair', she said.

Subash Chandra Bose, brother of Lingusamy confirmed to Indiaglitz that Nayantara is indeed out of the project and that talks are on with some leading heroines.
