As the nation is stuck at a crisis situation due to Coronavirus outbreak and the subsequent lockdown announced by Indian prime minister Narendra Modi, people are confined to the walls of their homes. So how exactly are people spending time? Besides working from home, people are either watching movies or binge watching series on OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime or Hotstar.

While there are numerous options for people to choose from these various platforms, the availability of subtitles has made sure people can watch movies in any language even without knowing it.

To make your lockdown phase worth it, we're here with a suggestion list of 10 Tamil movies available on Netflix (listed in no particular order). Check it out:

1. Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal: This Dulquer Salmaan, Ritu Varma starrer directed by debutant Desingh Periyasamy, revolves around two conmen, who are on the run from cop Prathap played by Gautham Vasudev Menon. However, the conmen get a shock of their lives from unexpected corners, and how they get out of troubles, is what this fun entertainer with interesting twists is all about.

2. Sillukaruppatti: Director Halitha Shameem's second directorial venture is a sweet anthology on love coming in the lives of people in different age groups. With Pradeep Kumar's soul stirring background score and slice of life moments brightened by the performances of Samuthirakani, Sunaina, Sara, Manikandan, Nivedhitta Sathish, Kravmaga Sreeram and Leela Samson, this one's a must watch to refresh your spirit.

3. Super Deluxe: Thiagarajan Kumararaja's sophomore outing 11 years after his stunning debut with Aaranya Kaandam has some unique characters - a transgender meeting her family after a while, a former pornstar, a cheating wife and her angry husband, a Tsunami survivor with blind faith, four teens who have a craving for lust. How these characters are connected and how they discover the secret of life, is what the well crafted movie is about.

4. Game over: Maya fame Ashwin Saravanan's second release isn't a mere horror flick or a survival thriller, but has multiple layers and also deals with the protagonist's psychological conflicts. With Taapsee's intense portrayal of a Gamer not just stuck in her home but also within walls built in her mind, trying to set herself free from the demons of her past, Game over is an intriguing watch.

5. Petta: Superstar Rajnikanth - the name is enough to keep you spellbound for three hours of full on entertainment, and with fanboy Karthik Subbaraj at the helm of affairs, Petta is packed with tributes and references to numerous Rajnikanth blockbusters of the past to make it exciting. Add to it the presence of a massive cast including Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Trisha, Malavika Mohanan, Simran, Megha Akash, Sasikumar and energetic music from Anirudh, this one's your dose of Superstar fun for a lockdown day.

6. Mersal: The blockbuster combo of Theri - Vijay and Atlee's second collaboration has not one but three Vijay, and it's triple the fun for mass movie lovers, as the actor is in full form entertaining with his act. As Vetri, Maaran and Vetrimaaran take on the antagonist played by SJ Suryah, Mersal is sure to provide you a good dosage of unabashed popcorn entertainment flavoured with peppy numbers from AR Rahman.

7. Pa Paandi: Dhanush's debut directorial did not have him in the lead, but surprisingly presented the soul searching journey of a senior citizen, where he rediscovers and reunites with his long lost love, in the process also finding the love of his family and the goodness around him. With a power packed performances by Rajkiran and the ever dependable Revathi, Pa Paandi aka Power Paandi is the nostalgic ride to take on a lockdown day.

8. Vettai: This Lingusamy mass entertainer is a perfect rehash of K Bhagyaraj's Avasara Police 100, with younger brother Arya helping the cowardly cop elder brother Madhavan everytime, only to land Maddy in trouble at a point. Was Maddy able to turn a brave cop then and fight the goons himself and save his family is what the fun filled entertainer is all about.

9. Kalakalappu: Sundar C made a surprise comeback after a series of duds with this simple yet effective comedy entertainer, with not just Santhanam but Shiva and Vemal tickling the funny bone as well through the screenplay. A simple plot, but the confusion comedy screenplay with Vettupuli Santhanam in full form ensures a laughathon to relish on a dull lockdown day.

10. Sarkar: Vijay's third collaboration with AR Murugadoss after blockbusters Thuppakki and Kaththi made people all over the state aware of an IPC section 49P, and exercising the rights to vote. The story of the corporate monster Sundar Ramasamy fighting out political bigwigs of Tamil Nadu to save the state from corrupt sharks is powered by Vijay's act, and though it isn't on par with the actor - director combo's previous outings, this one is a definite can watch for the theme.
