Oldest Tamil superstars director passes away

103 year old director Antony Mithra Dass passed away in Chennai yesterday. He is renowned for directing Tamil cinema`s first superstars P. U. Chinnappa in Dayalan` and Thiagaraja Bhagavathar in Sivagami`.

Born in Madurai, Mithra Doss graduated from the American College there and later shifted to Chennai and directed films in Tamil, Malayalam and Sinhalese. He also served as a soldier in World War 2 from 1942 to 1945. After the war Mithradoss tasted huge success directing the Malayalam film Harichandra`. The amazing thing is he was preparing to direct a new movie based on the World War when nature snatched him away.
