There are some bad films that do well. However there are also certain good films that either don't do well at all or fail to reach their potential. Here is presenting five such films from 2012 that definitely deserved a better outcome.

Agent Vinod

'Agent Vinod' turned out to be yet another instance of a film that was let down more by negative criticism and lack of enthusiasm amongst the 'junta' to check it out than the actual product itself. Ideally the film's opening itself should have been much bigger (and final total better than 45 odd crore that it managed) considering the fact that it had been released on a huge print count. When that didn't happen, negative criticism from media further hit its cause even though word of mouth from the fast diminishing audience that saw the movie wasn't really bad.

Heroine

There was a certain segment of media, industry and surprisingly even 'aam junta' amidst which a (wrong) perception was created that 'Heroine' hadn't done too well at the box office. The fact though is that it did sail through after collecting around 45 crores in lifetime business. Of course it did deserve to cover a greater distance. Kareena had come up with a very good performance while Madhur Bhandarkar was not shy about exposing various aspects of the industry. In a holds-no-bar narrative, he said things as they are and in the process went to the next level of behind the scenes outings in Bollywood.

Gangs of Wasseypur 2

When 'Gangs of Wasseypur 2' had a mid-week release (just before the arrival of 'Ek Tha Tiger'), it was apparent that it wasn't really headed towards a total that would have resulted in the makers smiling. The film opened on a barely average note and an eventual total of around 25 crores just about managed to bring it closer to the coverage mark. Lack of star value, abundance of adult content (violence, language) and the biggest factor of them all - arrival of 'Ek Tha Tiger' - meant the film saw a premature end in theatres.

Ferrari Ki Sawaari

'Ferrari Ki Sawaari' hadn't quite picked up the pace of a Ferrari and its outcome was akin to the performance of a Maruti 800. Though it did end up gathering around 30 crores, given the size of its release, it had the potential to garner much bigger moolah. The film had hardly any face value and in that aspect it did reasonably well. Yes, it was appreciated by the 'junta' but that didn't quite result in word of mouth resulting in enhanced footfalls. Boasting of a good content, it definitely deserve better.

Ajab Gazabb Love

It was rather surprising to see 'Ajab Gazabb Love' just not managing to stand up. With collections that fell short of the 7 crore mark, the family romcom wasn't quite panned by anyone and 'aam junta' was fine as well with what played on screen for those two hours. The film's lead pair of Jackky Bhagnani and Nidhi Subbaiah were acknowledged for their act as well but cheers weren't really heard amongst the audience. The film may just about manage better business on satellite and home video though due to its clean appeal since no one had anything negative to say about it on its release.
