Picket 43
Director Major Ravi has been exceptional with his initial films based on army life which also made big money at the Box Office. But of late , his last few films didn't earn enough for their producers largely due to their poor scripts and not so effective sequences. Anyhow, the director is back now with another movie titled 'Picket 43' that tells a very different story, but again in the backdrop of Army. Featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Javed Jaffrey in lead roles, 'Picket 43' is all set to be on theatres in a couple of months.
Prithviraj is featured as Hareendran Nair, an Indian soldier stationed at 'Picket 43' with only his dog and a radio for company. He is the lone man guarding the borders at a mere 30 metres across the border, where his only company is his Pakistani counterpart Musharaf.
As soldiers of opposing countries, they are not supposed to engage in thick friendship, but the movie will depict the irony of an understated friendship and camaraderie that develops between them. As the plot progresses, the movie will deal on how they try to resist infiltration across the borders working as a team and how some doubts brings in a veil between them and their actions. Wholly shot in the scenic background of Jammu & Kashmir , the movie takes clues from actual stories to explain the the hardships of the soldiers left to solitude and rivalry.
Jomon T JOhn is in charge of the camera side of the movie while Ranjan Abraham does the editing of movie which will also feature Ranji Panikkar, Amgana and a few other fresh faces in the fray. 'Picket 43' will be another interesting production from O G Sunil and his banner Film Brewery, whose home production '22 Female Kottayam' has been a path breaking film in history of Malayalam cinema.
