C. Azhagappan, a former assistant director to Kamal Haasan has turned director with the film ‘Vannathupoochi’. It is a praiseworthy fact that after a very long time, Tamil cinema has come up with a children's film with this venture.

The story is about the emotional relationship between a five year old girl and her grandfather. Srilakshmi and Bala Singh play the granddaughter and grandfather respectively.

Revathy, it seems, plays a guest role and will don the character of a Judge. The movie has been designed in such a way that Tamil culture and heritage amalgamated with immaculate love and affection from the viewpoint of a child holds a vital key.

Reports indicate that the film could very well capture the fascination of international audiences and keeping that in mind subtitles are being prepared.

A three thousand year old music instrument called 'Thuduk' has been used for this film and the music director Rehan is very excited about it.

P.S. Dharan has wielded the camera and the movie has been produced under the banner of Mother Arts International.
