Malayalam film industry is facing a new controversy during the festival season of Ramzan, when the major films of megastars like ‘Maya Bazaar’ starring Mammootty, ‘Kurukshetra’ of Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi’s ‘Bullet’ are scheduled to be released tomorrow on October 1st.

Cine Exhibitors Federation (CEF), an organization of 'A' class theatres in Kerala demands for a restriction in the number of releasing centers for the films. Screening of new releases in larger number of centers would harm the other films. They insisted that there must be only 48 releasing centers in the state whereas the films’ producers want their films to be screened for release in 90 centers.

Film producers association and the B-C Class theatre owners consider this restriction as harmful to the solidarity of the film industry in the forthcoming festival season.

However, the Film producers association cleared that the demand of CEF is the breach of contract signed last march, which says about permitting any number of releasing centers in the state.
