Aadu Puli

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Tamil Comments

`Aadu Puli' is a racy game, hugely popular in the rural parts of Tamil Nadu. So when director Vijay Prakash wanted to name his maiden venture, which according to him is about the game between the protagonist and the antagonist, he found the title `Aadu Puli' apt.

Produced by Michael Rayappan of Global Infotainment, a name to reckon with in quality entertainers like `Naadodigal', `Goripalayalam' and the recent `Thenmerku Paruvakkatru', `Aadu Puli' is ready for a release.

Aadhi of `Mirugam' and `Eeram' fame is the hero, while `Muniyandi Vilangiyal Moonramandu' Poorna plays the heroine. Also there is a huge star cast, comprising Prabhu, Ravichandran, K R Vijaya, `Nizhalgal' Ravi and Yuvarani.

Music is scored by Sundar C Babu, whose songs in `Chithiram Pesuthadi' and `Nadodigal' need no explanation. Interestingly, he has composed a whopping nine numbers for `Aadu Puli', including two theme songs.

Says the director, "Aadu Puli has been shaped up as a perfect family entertainer. The movie has ingredients to attract the audience from six to sixty. I am indebted to my team for their complete co-operation."

On Aadu Puli's storyline, he says, "It's about how things change suddenly in a happy and big family. But for the hero, no one knows who is the villain is. A game is now on between the both. The rest is about how the protagonist sets things right in brainy and brawny ways."

Explaining as to why he selected Aadhi for the lead role, Vijay Prakash says, "He is the one actor who is ready to do anything a director wants. I admired his performance in Eeram and Mirugam and wanted him to play the protagonist in my movie."

Happy about other members of the team, he says, "Poorna's acting skills have come out well in Aadu Puli. I am thankful to veterans Prabhu, Ravichandran and K R Vijaya, who accepted to be part of my debut vehicle. Producer Michael Rayappan's co-operation is something great."

Aadhi, expressing optimism about the movie, says, "Though Aadu Puli is a commercial entertainer, it is not the one who get to see normally. Vijay Prakash has tried something different within the commercial format."

A couple of stunt sequences are said to be the highlights of the movie. According to sources, they are shot by spending a lot of money, and are "no inferior to those in Hollywood films."
