Ilayathalapathy Vijay teamed up with master class director Shankar for the first time for 'Nanban' which was the remake of Bollywood blockbuster '3 Idiots'. 'Nanban' released in 2012 was also a critically acclaimed blockbuster.

'3 Idiots' directed by Rajkumar Hirani with Aamir Khan, Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles is a take on our educational system. The film has now got its first international remake.

'3 Idiots' has been remade by a Mexican film crew in Spanish language and the remake has been titled as '3 Idiotas'. The film has been directed by Carlos Bolado. The film stars Alfonso Dosal, Christian Vazquez, German Valdez and Martha Higerada in lead roles

The film has hit the screens on March 31, 2017.
