Prakash Jha's forthcoming social political drama has been given a U/A certificate by the Censor Board. The multi-starrer movie, which is based on caste-based reservations in the educational system, interestingly was passed by the board without a single cut.

Amitabh Bachchan, one of the movie's lead actors, confirmed about it in his blog and the mega star was quite thrilled on the U/A certification and remarked that "it's an accomplishment".

'Aarakshan' had recently attracted the members of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NSCS), who demanded special preview of the film doubting about its content before the release. But the director had flatly refused to do so and was adamant to showcase his film only to the CB.

Quoted Big B, "There has been an immense amount of speculation regarding the censorship of the film, "Aarakshan". This has stemmed mainly from parties that were concerned that the film would offend people of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Castes. Even anti-reservation groups were worried, that the film may be too pro-reservation. The National Commission for Scheduled Castes sent a notice to the Censor Board that the film should not be cleared by the Censor Board without the approval of the Commission. However, the Censor Board did not comply with this notice. Instead it formulated an expert panel of its own to review the film".

He added to say that Board's decision to give 'Aarakshan' a U/A certificate without a single cut, "speaks volumes about the responsibility and sensitivity with which the film has been written and directed".

"This certification should silence all critics who thought the film will upset the sentiments of people from the backward castes", said Bachchan further.
