Aarya

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Tamil Comments

Madhavan is one of the big names in the industry now. He is certainly among the most popular teenybopper heroes.

Madhavan stocks are high after the recent run of his last Thambi.

Now he is gearing up to complete Aarya, a bilingual being made in Tamil and Telugu.

Balasekharan, who has a good track record with youthful and responsible themes in the past, directs this.

Bhavana, the pretty young thing from Malayalam, is the heroine. After Chithiram Pesuthadi, she is a hot ticket in the circuit.

Manoj Kumar, producer of Aarya acknowledges the efforts of Madhavan and director Balasekaran.

He says the movie is a romantic one with a stress on action and sentiments.

'A major portion of the movie has been completed with only a few songs and the climax remaining to be canned.'

Dwelling on the movie, Balasekaran, says, 'It is the story of a medical student who takes his knife for a different purpose and is ready to face the repercussions'.

Prakash Raj's cameo is a highlight. Some minor changes were inevitable in Telugu with Sunil in for Vadivelu to handle the comedy segment.

`It will be action-oriented film blending well with the music of Mani Sharma. It's a great feeling to direct an artiste of Madhavan's stature. I will do my best to give his character a rich look and keep his image intact.'

Manoj Kumar, with the experience as a director in films like Guru Parvai and Vanavil, felt confident to pass on the baton to a younger director. 'With his experience of direction in two languages, he has a fair idea of the audience pulse. It boils down to a question of adjustment catering to the taste.'

Bhavana plays Maddy's ladylove while the supporting cast also includes Devan and Tejashree.

Madhavan is now reinventing himself in action roles.

Aarya in a sense mixes his lover boy image and the new found status as an action hero. A nice combination, it seems.
