Director Aashiq Abu has been facing the heat for quite some time over the cocaine scandal. The director and his wife, actress Rima Kallingal had been dragged into it by a media reporting that the duo will face inquiry soon.

Some women activists have expressed their disdain over his use of the term prostitute. Journalist Anupama Venkatesh is of the opinion that it reflected his mindset and is not suited for a progressive minded person. Activist Maya says that prostitution is not cheating or tricking by any yard sick and that they were better off that people with vested interests.
