The first look of Vipul Shah’s ‘Action Replayy’ was unveiled yesterday, coinciding with its lead hero Akshay Kumar’s birthday. Addressing to the media, the filmmaker revealed interesting titbits about the film.

According to Vipul, the film is based on a Gujarati play with the same title, which he had done in 1994. The play had been a huge success, which made the director to script it in the lines of cinema.

Now of late we have seen few movies cropping up which carries the essence of classic era. And looking at ‘Action Replayy’ one wonders whether it will be lost in the sea of similarities. But Vipul justifies that saying that it is just a coincidence that his film is releasing at the same time when films have come up reflecting the seventies period - and there has been no intention to copy something popular, the director went to add.

Vipul feels that retro has the best connect with the audience. “That was the era that the youth connects to because it was colourful, the music was great, 70s created a revolution in style,” stated the filmmaker to the media.

On an amusing note, films have greatly influenced the spelling factor. One might have to unlearn things we learnt at school. For titles these days follow a style of repeating letters and ‘Action Replayy’ is no doubt among those….. The obvious reason, as the director puts it, is for numerology sake. “We all are superstitious, so we have kept the name according to numerology,” remarked Vipul.

Yeah we got it Shah and we hope the naming luck favours the film. ‘Action Replayy’ stars Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan – a jodi which was earlier seen in ‘Khakhee’ – and supporting them are Neha Dhupia, Randhir Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav and others. The film is slated for 5th November, as a Diwali release.
