It's known that Balakrishna came under fire from some quarters for speaking at the audio release function of Savitri in a language demeaning to women. Following criticisms from various quarters, the Hindupur MLA has apologized for any offence meant.

However, when asked for her views on Balayya's speech, Nandita Raj, the film's heroine, who was also present on the dias when Balayya gave that speech, has said that he should not have talked that way. She also added that the women on the stage felt uncomfortable.
