Starring Sai Ronak, Aditi Singh and Aishwarya in lead roles, 'Guppedantha Prema' is a rom-com set to hit the screens on June 17. The film is written and directed by Vinod Lingala and is produced by Eye Wink Productions. Music is composed by Navneeth Sundar. In this interview, Aditi talks about what the film is about and more:

'Guppedantha Prema' is your debut film. Did you always want to become an actress?

Yes, I always wanted to be an actress. As a child, when someone asked me what I wanted to be in life, I would say that it will be an actress. It's to that extent that films impacted me. For a newbie to enter the industry, it's very difficult.

How difficult was it to get your first chance?

I was 85 kgs or so. When the director first saw my pics, he told me if I came down in weight, he will think of casting me as a female lead. I made an effort toward shedding my weight. When I came for an audition to Hyderabad, there were two Telugu girls who were there to audition for the same role. I got tensed seeing them. But I was confident of pulling it off because I know whatever I do, I do it in a focused manner. I said some lines of Nithya Menen during the audition and was okayed.

What kind of character are you playing and what is the subject of the film about?

I am playing a girl by name Sandy. She is a girl-next-door, traditional girl who mirrors the Telugu culture and values. The subject is rooted in the purity of the thing called first love. What changes take place in the hitherto normal Sandy when the male lead enters her life, is what forms the crux.

The director is upbeat about the final product. How do you think has the film come out?

You will see it for yourself. All of us worked for the film liking it to the fullest. It's because we loved it that we could shoot in -4 degree Celsius.

How was it working with director Vinod Lingala?

He is someone who knows what he wants. He knows what a story needs. He knows what he needs from an actor. He could extract fine performances from one and all.

How was it working with your hero Sai Ronak?

We bonded very well on the sets. That helped us in striking the right chemistry.

Tell us about your family.

I was born in Delhi, and brought up in Mumbai. My dad Gnanendra Prathap worked with the likes of Aamir Khan. Due to some reasons, he came out of the film industry. As for my mother, she is playing my on-screen mother in 'Guppedantha Prema'.

What are your upcoming films?

I haven't signed on anything. I am waiting for 'GP' to release.
