Literally following his late grandfather, the legendary Raj Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor will take Bollywood to Russia. The young heartthrob of B-town will promote his recent romantic comedy, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ (YJHD) three days before its release in the foreign country

Ayan Mukerji’s recent film, that has apparently earned the biggest opening at the box office this year, is now all set to release in Russia. And to make sure it rakes in big numbers overseas as well, the film’s lead actor Ranbir will soon head to the foreign location to promote the film. For the record, YJHD crossed the Rs.100 cr mark within the first week of its release in India.

"YJHD will release in Russia in the coming months. Ranbir will be there for three days before the release so that he has time to engage with the media and market the film," said an insider close to the development of the project.

Incidentally, films starring Ranbir’s grandfather - the late Raj Kapoor - are very popular in Russia. He shot to fame and developed a fan following after hit films like Awara (1951), Shree 420 (1955) and Mera Naam Joker (MNJ, 1970) released there. MNJ also featured Russian actors. As per reports, back in the ’50s, when Russia was in a war-torn condition, the people considered Kapoor’s films a beacon of hope. He is revered as an icon even today in Russia.

"Ranbir is excited about this trip and is looking forward to interacting with his fans," added the insider.

YJHD also featured Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Kalki Kochelin in lead.
