B-town entertainer Akshay Kumar the first choice for comic capers is now getting serious and will be doing a role which is close to reality. After entertaining the masses with his comic timings, the talented actor will be seen essaying the role of a cricketer in his forthcoming ‘Patiala House’ produced by T Series and People Tree.

Akshay Kumar’s character in ‘Patiala House’ - Parghat Singh Kahlon is based on Monty Singh Panesar’s life the first Sikh to represent England in cricket.

Akshay plays a Sikh, an England Citizen who is talented and has always dreamt to be a Pace bowler. His parents have migrated years back to London. ‘Patiala House’ directed by Nikhil Advani is about a patriarchal family that has to bow down to the wishes and dictates of the head patriarch. A father son drama set in London has all three generations living together under one roof.

England bowler Panesar, is a devout Sikh, has a large family in England and his parents having migrated to England from Punjab.

The film starring Akshay Kumar, Anushka Sharma, Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia is slated to release on 11th Feb 2011.
