Not just Akshay Kumar but everyone associated with him in the present as well as in near future can heave a sigh of relief. His 'Housefull 2' has opened quite well at the box office and has reinforced the point that the superstar hadn't gone away anywhere. Though in the last year or so, especially after 'Tees Maar Khan', many had started questioning his super-stardom, the fantastic opening of 'Housefull 2' has ensured that it is going to be one eventful year for the actor from this point on.

Three day collections of this Sajid Nadiadwala production have boasted of a very impressive 43 crores just from India which means the battle is already half won here. For an expensive film like this though, what was of paramount importance was to get the word of mouth correct as well since it couldn't have survived with just a weekend. Fortunately for all involved, this is what happened as audience reception towards the film has been decent to very good, hence ensuring that there won't be any drastic fall in collections during the weekdays.

Economics of the film require 60-65 crores theatrical revenue for it to enter into the profit zone. Now that would start happening before the first week comes to a close. What is being looked at quite keenly is the kind of distance that the film would traverse from this point on. The 100 crore question is, as you guessed it right, 'Will the film enter the 100 crore club?'. Well, as things stand today, the answer is 'yes'. The film is heading in the same direction as a 'Don 2' or a 'Ready' when it comes to opening and the word of mouth.

Also, what helps the film's cause is minimal competition from movies at the least. Next week sees the release of 'Bittoo Boss' and that would have its own market to explore that won't quite disturb 'Housefull 2'. That should allow the film a good second weekend as well which means the film should take a huge jump towards the 100 crore mark before eventually managing to get this milestone before it's third week is through.

With the film, Sajid Khan has now enjoyed a hat trick of successes after 'Heyy Babyy' and 'Housefull', hence turning out to be the only director after Raj Kumar Hirani (in the recent times) to have managed this feat with his first three films itself. Of course both make different kind of cinema but for a director who has always claimed to know the 'pulse of the audience', it is apparent that Sajid is having the final laugh.
