Recently there were accusations that Govinda's latest release 'Naughty @ 40' was an unofficial remake of Hollywood comedy 'The 40 Year Old Virgin'. While the film's director Jagmohan Mundhra denies the allegation, he also goes on to state that if at all there were any reference points for 'Naughty @ 40', they were closer home than 'saat samandar paar'.

"If you remember, there was an old Hindi film called 'Anubhav' with Shekhar Suman and Padmini Kolhapure in the lead; it too had a touch of the similar theme. Ditto for other films like 'Piya Ka Ghar' and 'Uphaar' where a married couple is unable to consummate their marriage. It is unfortunate that in Bollywood whenever we make a film, there are people out there who immediately start joining the dots and hunt for reference points."

Jag admits though that it was Govinda's idea to make the film. "He is 46 and the whole thought process was to make a film that suits his age," admits Jag, "He happened to see 'The 40 Year Old Virgin' and said to me that it would be great if we could make a film on the similar lines. After that we worked on an altogether different script, screenplay and dialogues. No one can accuse us of lifting anything."

Well Jag, we would say it with surety only when we see the film for ourselves.
