Srikanth has been handpicked to play the lead role in 'Paagan' by director Ameer. Wonder how? The film is the maiden directorial venture of Aslam, who was an associate to the 'Paruthi Veeran' maker. When Aslam narrated the story of 'Paagan' to Ameer, the mentor asked his student to have Srikanth on board.

"Ameer felt that Srikanth would be the right choice. His selection was so apt, as the actor fits well to the role. In fact, he helped a lot to me in other things too, including finding a right producer," says Aslam.

Throwing light on the storyline, he says, "A lot of youngsters, especially those from the southern districts, aspire for a job in an abroad nation. The film is an attempt to prove their point wrong. There are a lot of opportunities in India itself and this forms the crux."

Janani Iyer, who made her debut with Bala's 'Avan Ivan', is playing the female lead. "She put on a few extra pounds to fit the role well. A major portion of Paagan was shot in and around Tirupur and a leading entrepreneur has played an important role," the director says.
