Ammuvagiya Naan

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Tamil Comments

After Azhagi, actor-director Parthiban plays a writer again in Ammuvagiya Naan. The movie directed by Padmamagan features a debutante Bharathi, who plays the title role in the movie. According to the director Padmamagan, "The thrust has been on the conflict of the common man in his fight for social justice".

Bharathi is excited at the rare opportunity and the experience of working with an experienced actor like Parthiban. It may be recalled that many leading heroines had refused the role. "I have strong reasons to feel that the movie would bring me lots of fame. Realism is the key word in my character with focus on the dialect. I vibed well with Parthiban, whose support helped me to understand meanings to my character. I am keenly awaiting the release".

She adds, "Once the storylines were detailed to me, I saw the scope to perform in what I would deem it as a dream role. Not every day you expect to get such roles. There is every reason to feel optimistic of the movie's reach to the masses".

Parthiban was all praise for Padmamagan. "When I was looking out for a good story line, Padmamagan approached me with Ammuvagiya Naan. It's a revolutionary storyline and it is sure to win accolades". "The movie is a good blend of arts and commercial aspects and would be lapped up by the movie-lovers", says the director.

Sabesh - Murali has scored the music, while M S Prabhu has cranked the camera. It is a daringly different movie aimed to touch the pulse of the audience.

The movie was shot extensively in Pondicherry, Chennai and Sengikottai. Bharathi plays a call-girl, who volunteers into the profession. It is a bold theme and should attract those who have a passion for different cinema.

Sekar, who produced Pallavan before, is producing Ammuvagiya Naan. The movie is slated for release this June.
