Popular music director and actor Vijay Antony celebrates his birthday today.

Vijay Antony made his entry into film industry as a music director with director S.A. Chandrasekar's 'Sukran' which had Thalapathy Vijay playing an extended cameo role. He went on to carve a niche for himself with back to back hit albums in Kollywood. He proved his mastery by giving super hit songs under various genres such as western, classical, melodies and fast beat kuthu numbers. He went on to score music for Thalapathy Vijay's 'Vettaikkaran' and 'Velayudham'.

In 2012 he decided to take up acting as a full time profession. The decision was looked upon cynically as many film industry celebrities who tried to become a hero have faltered big time. But Vijay Antony changed that perspective. 'Naan', his debut film as the lead actor emerged as a surprise winner of the year, both critically and commercially. And that was not a flash on that pan. The success of Vijay Antony as an actor continued with 'Salim', 'Pichakkaiaran', 'Saithan' and his latest film 'Yaman'.

Especially 'Pichaikkaran' was a blockbuster of the year 2016. The film was dubbed in Telugu and the dubbed version itself made record breaking profit there by fetching a huge market for Vijay Antony starrers in the Telugu speaking states.

As an actor Vijay Antony has so far showed phenomenal intelligence in selecting the right script and submitting himself to the needs of the character he portrays. He has also stopped working as a music director in the films of other heroes.

Vijay Antony's upcoming films include 'Anna Durai' directed by debutant Srinivasan. He will be spending this birthday at the shooting spot of his upcoming film 'Anna Durai' in Thirukkoviloor. The film is being produced by Sarathkumar and Raadika Sarathkumar and this is Vijay Antony's first film as an actor for an outside banner. This clearly shows the high demand for Vijay Antony's films. After completing this film he is expected to team up with director Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi for 'Kaali'.
