January 29 is going to be the most memorably and gratifying date for people connected with business of Kollywood. Both the films 'Irudhu Suttru and ' Aranmanai 2' have made the right impact with the audience and trade circles are confident that both the films are going to be successful to all persons involved.

'Irudhi Suttru' starring Madhavan and Rithika Singh in the lead roles has been directed by Sudha Kongura. The film did not have initial star attraction except for the fact that it is the Tamil film of Madhavan releasing after a gap of four years. But the trailers created the much needed positive buzz around the film. Madhavan owned the film and took part in pre-release promotional events round the clock.Yet the film released in a relatively less number of screens but holding strong even in the weekdays. This is because of the phenomenal word of mouth generated by all who have watched the film which has impressed all sections of audience and critics.

In its opening weekend the film has grossed Rs.4.5 crores in Tamil Nadu state alone. This is a fantastic figure for a film with less star value like 'Irudhi Suttru'. Thanks to Madhavan taking part in promotions in various places of Tamil Nadu the film has done well in B and C centers also. The film has netted Rs.45 lakhs in Madurai city in the first three days of release.

'Aranmanai 2' on the other hand came with the super hit 'Aranmanai' tag, the presence of top actors like Trisha, Hansika, Siddharth and the tried and tested horror-comedy genre. The film despite getting mixed reviews has captivated the family audience with its humor, sentiment and horror content. The film has grossed Rs.16.08 approximately in the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In Tamil Nadu the film has released in 355 screens and grossed approximately Rs.9 crores in the theatricals from the state.
