He is the son of B-town prolific producer Boney Kapoor who has given hits like ‘Mr. India’, ‘Wanted’. Normally a B-town son gets his launch scripted by their dear fathers who are either actors or filmmakers. Many would have been of the opinion that Arjun Kapoor might have bagged his debut vehicle YRF ‘Ishqzaade’ by sheer credit of being Boney Kapoor’s son and Anil Kapoor’s nephew…..

But the debut glory comes with a struggling story for the next promised happening in B-town called ‘Arjun Kapoor’.

The face was ‘booked’ for the role via facebook.. yes.. you read it right.. the social networking phenomenon was influential in bringing Arjun Kapoor to us..

The story goes like this

B-town premiere production house Yash Raj Film’s (YRF) casting director Shanoo Sharma was looking for an actor to play the male lead in Habib Tanvir’s film, when she came across Arjun’s profile on Facebook she immediately decided to meet him. “At that time, no one knew that Arjun was Boney’s son.

Once Shanoo met Arjun, everyone in the YRF team was sure that they wanted him for this film. He fit the bill perfectly. Plus, they wanted to cast a new face in the role opposite Parineeti Chopra,” says an insider in YRF.

Although Arjun is unavailable for media interactions at the moment, Shanoo confirms the news saying: “Yes, Arjun and I met on Facebook via our common friends. When I was going through his pictures, I instantly felt that he had a lot of potential. Later, I met him over coffee and then at a couple of auditions. But he wasn’t told which project it was being done for.”

For the uninitiated, Boney and late Mona Kapoor’s son will be seen on the big screen this May alongside Parineeti, who made her debut last year with Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl. Arjun, who studied cinema at Asian Academy of Film and Television, has worked as an assistant director on films like Shakti: The Power (2002), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003) and Salaam-E-Ishq (2007).
