At last Ambi is minister

The pride of Kannada cinema and Karnataka the Good Samaritan rebel star turned Member of Parliament Ambarish has the luck towards his side this time in the union cabinet reshuffle. He is the Union Minister of State for information and Broadcasting. This is a long pending one for Ambarish as his juniors in the Parliament had become ministers. Ambarish got elected three times from Mandya as MP. He is now immensely happy for the position coming to him at his 54 th year of age.

He has been a Vokkaliga made debut in SR Puttanna Kanagal's 'Nagarahavu' with Dr.Vishnuvardhana in the lead. He was anti hero in quite a number of films starting from 'Nagarahavu' and ever since 'Antha' he acquired the status of hero. He had acted with many top stars like Dr.Rajkumar, Dr.Vishnuvardhana, Shanker Nag, Ananthnag, Jayaprada, Geetha, Madhavi, Sumalatha etc. He married top actress Sumalatha and his Son Abisekh is studying in the college.

On Tuesday evening Ambarish was sworn in as minister of state for Information and Broadcasting. From Mandya district from where he hails Ambarish is the second person to acquire the union minister. The other one was S.M.Krishna former chief minister of Karnataka who was a cabinet minister in the Indira Gandhi regime.

I would completely keep my time for the service of the people Ambarish reacted soon after swearing in ceremony.

Ambarish with 200 films to his credit has entered politics in 1994. Known as 'Mandyadha Gandu' he won his first election in 1998 on a Janata Dal ticket and then on a Congress ticket in 1999. In 2004 Parliament election also he won with very good margin.

Born on May 29 1951 Ambarish father is Huchche Gowda and mother is Padmamma. He was a college drop out from Mysore Maharaja College. He is the grandson of famous violin maestro T.Chowdaiah.

Some of the top films of Ambarish in Kannada are – Nagarahavu, Toni, Antha, New Delhi, Odahuttidavaru, Mandyadha Gandu, Mouna Geethe, Yelu Suttina Kote, Ranganayaki and others. The film starring Ambarish in the role of ruler of Chitradurga Madakarinayaka - Kallarali Hoovagi in which his wife Sumalatha has also acted is releasing in November.

For the Kannada film industry inducting Ambarish as union minister is a very good compliment on the occasion of 'Suvarna Karnataka'.

Reacting to his close friend Ambarish induction to union cabinet Dr.Vishnuvardhana has said he is immensely happy and Ambi deserve the position. I am feeling so happy that I have myself become the minister. Ambarish has been instrumental in doing so many good works. Hundreds of families are living today in Karnataka because of him said Dr.Vishnuvardhana.
