In transforming the life sketch of criminals the sensitive issues that bother the society should be carefully assessed and analysis should be always in harmony of the society.

AMR Ramesh in the case of `Attahaasa' life and death of Veerappan the most bothered forest brigand for three states of South India has not given an intelligent thought. How the life of Veerappan - killings elephants, forest officials, IPS officer, DCF, cops, poaching he has done brought changes in the social life has not been incorporated. Secondly the legend Dr Rajakumar kidnap aftermath effect on Karnataka economy, life and social life has not been given prominence adequately.

The film `Attahaasa' is as if it is done to showcase the criminal biography. A criminal is a criminal always in the eyes of people. With a person like Veerappan who ruled mercilessly what the message the director passes is very important. In that way director AMR Ramesh has gone very flat in just recording the attacks of Veerappan.

The point of how the outside forces connected to destruction of Veerappan could have been a point from this director. He has gone in to some sort of fear it seems.

The terror of Veerappan from the birth is showcased with lot of wrong methods. In the beginning days ivory by killing elephants, later sandalwood smuggling and then kidnapping the topnotch of Karnataka Dr Rajakumar, Karnataka forest Minister Nagappa..incidents roll one by one besides the attacks Veerappan makes on those who came to stop him and reform him.

In the two hours fifty minutes cinema `Attahaasa' director AMR Ramesh has many loose ends and the editing skills in him could have made this a better film. What we have seen in `Cyanide' - the grip is not found in the same director. Of course Rathnavelu had done a great job in `Cyanide' and again in Vijay Milton gives a visual treat in his cinematography.

It is difficult to say in this traumatic life of Veerappan so and so is good. He had the chances of transforming when DCF Srinivas was so close to it. Instead of growing his intelligence on the good he had chosen the bad way and paid penalty with his team members on his way to Salem hospital. The STF task forces make a thorough `Cocoon' operation and give no chance for a few of Veerappan members to retaliate. It is finally the close aide of Veerappan Military Periyavar becomes very costly for the end of forest fugitive.

Director AMR Ramesh has given concentration to the developments from the point of view of Tamil Nadu but he does not concentrate on the Karnataka side. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa voice over without showing the face comes on silver screen twice in this `Attahaasa'.

Kishor as Veerappan has lived up to the expectations. With a huge moustache he is very close to the real life gunned down Veerappan. The superstition of Veerappan is also focused. The same superstition gives `Dhoka' for him when one of the three dates is announced by Military Periyavar.

Arjun as STF chief, Ravi Kaale as right hand man Senthamalai Kannan are adequate. The operation plan these two make is gripping part of the film.

Suresh Oberoi should have carefully observed the movements of Dr Rajakumar to come close to him. He falls flat in his role. Suchindra Prasad has over reacted in the role of DCF Srinivas.

The trump card of this film is Vijay Milton cinematography and Sandeep Chowta background score. The location selected, art work and struggle of the team in making this film deserves applaud.

Score - 6/10
