A life that was lived without purpose, without heart, without soul and without an existence
A life from which the reasons were snatched away
A life that never had a reason to be

Shivam [Emraan Hashmi] was one such young man who searched for a reason to live. And lost. And soon found himself on the route which had only one journey - Awarapan.

He had a past.

A past so dark, painful and full of sorrow that all he wanted was to forget it forever
A past that made him find his love and loose it
A past that saw him loosing it all

And now the only job he had for him was to serve his Hong Kong based boss Malik [Ashutosh Rana]. Malik, gangster and an owner of a chain of hotels, had an assignment set out for Shivam - keep an eye and protect his mistress Reema [Shreya Saran].

Reema, a girl so innocent and lovely, that she could melt the strongest of hearts. Pakistani by origin, she was bought by Malik in the flesh market of Bangkok where she had arrived as a result of human trafficking.

Once with Reema, Shivam saw his life taking a strange turn. A turn that was unseen and unexplained. Looking at Reema made Shivam remember the life he once lived, the love he once had, the peace he once found in himself.

He found himself getting attracted to her even though he realized what Reema meant for Malik. Confused and a little apprehensive, he had to make a decision before realization struck in the cruelest of manners.

Reema already had a secret boyfriend tucked away in a closet and all she wanted was to use Shivam in escaping from Malik's clutches.

Shivam was trapped from all ends - a love that never was; a loyalty that could take the life of his love and his own 'awarapan' which was leading his life to nowhere.

What would he do?

Would he go all out to get the love he wanted?
Would he let his love go away to the one she loved?
Would he force his love to get back to the cruel world of Malik?

Or would he do something else that no one could ever guess and see it coming?

Extensively shot in Hong Kong and Bangkok, AWARAPAN is a story that has it's complex shades, complex situations and complex emotions, all of which result in amalgamation of love, passion, loyalty, revenge and an ultimate betrayal.

Also starring Mrinalini and Rehan Khan, AWARAPAN is the fourth film of Mohit Suri after a hat trick of successes in the form of ZEHER, KALYUG and WOH LAMHE. With music by Pritam, AWARAPAN is expected to be yet another musical success for the Bhatts who have seldom gone wrong with their films. Released by STUDIO 18 in the overseas market, AWARAPAN sees a global release on June 29, 2007.
