As the speculation of the exit of the CEO of Axis Bank is going viral, the board meeting held on 26th of July 2017 confirms that Shikha Sharma will be continuing as the CEO and MD of the Axis Bank franchise until the end of 2021.

“The Board of Directors at its meeting held on 26th July 2017, approved the re-appointment of Smt. Shikha Sharma as the Managing Director & CEO of the Bank for a period of 3 years, W.E.F. 1st June 2018, subject to compliance with the prescribed formalities and receipt of requisite regulatory/ statutory approvals,” she said in the regulatory filing on BSE.

“The appointment of a search firm is in the interest of best governance, given that I'd have done nine years in 2018 with the bank and it does not preclude anything about whether I will do another term or not,” she adds and clarifies the announcement of the acquisition of Freecharge for Rs 395 crore.

“We believe that Axis Bank has created some very strong capability in it, we have a strong brand which all customer surveys suggest people who experienced it have liked it. So I think there are lots of exciting things to do in the bank,” she said about her interest and plans for building the bank further.

This is the second term for the 59-year-old Shikha Sharma in Axis Bank.
