It is generally supposed that child artistes turn into lead stars after they grow up. Baby Shamili, who wowed audiences with her superlative performance in the Mani Rathnam directed 'Anjali' as a mentally challenged child, seemed to defy the rule. Sister of Shalini Ajithkumar and Richard, this pretty young girl was approached by many directors to play the heroine in their flicks. However, their efforts turned futile.

Now, a debut director in Telugu, Anand Ranga has managed to rope in Shamili as the heroine for his film in which Siddarth is the hero. Anand Ranga, who has worked as an associate for the blockbuster hit 'Bommarillu', is said to have impressed Shamili with the story. This made Shamili to sign on the dotted line.

The film, which is touted to start rolling in the first week of October, is being produced by DVV Danayya under the banner Universal Media.
