Usually, when his film hits the screen, director Bala has to painfully wait for his fans to approve his film, make ends meet with the producer and then collect the profit. But this time, with 'Paradesi', the game has changed. Even before its release, director Bala is a wealthy man. The director doubled up as the producer for this project. He finished shooting in a record time of 90 days; he has already made a profit of 5 crore rupees by distributing the movie rights. What has this fetched him? A house in the touted Poes Garden in Chennai. Yes! Now director Bala joins the club of Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa and Superstar Rajinikanth, to reside in Poes Garden.

'Paradesi' is based on a novel 'Red Tea' by Paul Harris Daniel on the pre-independence struggle of tea estate workers. The film was actually to have been directed by Bala's assistant Acharyan Ravi; the two later had a discussion and decided that Bala would direct the film, while the latter will continue to assist him. The film stars Adharvaa, Dhansika, Vedhika and Uma Riyaz Khan in key roles; the music for this movie has been scored by GV Prakash Kumar. The film will hit the screens this Friday.
