Balu Mahendra was admitted to the Vijaya hospital following chest pain. He was preparing to go for the shooting of Athu oru kana kalam starring Dhanush and Priya Mani. He had earlier suffered from a heart attack. Off late he was experiencing problems over dates with Dhanush who is caught up in court litigations and ban from distributors. He had last directed Julie Ganapathy with Jayram and Saritha. His memorable movies are Moondram Pirai, Veedu, Moodupani and Raman Abdullah. The present schedule is to take place at Ooty and Balu Mahendra was to depart yesterday night when he got the chest pain. Director Bala rushed to the hospital on hearing the news. Balu’s wife Akila is sitting by his bedside.
