Bangaram

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Telugu Comments

Pawan Kalyan usually takes time for his movies. But even by his usual standards Bangaram has taken quite a while.

But his legion of fans is hoping that the wait will be worth it.

At any rate, the promise is there. Director Dharani has won his spurs as a redoubtable maker of gritty entertainers. His track record in Tamil is impeccable. His last three films in Tamil have been big blockbusters.

Dharani sure knows how to tell a simple tale as a well-packaged entertainer.

He promises just that in Bangaram. Though he is loath to discuss the film's story, suffice to say the movie will have all the things that a Pawan starrer demands.

For Pawan this is a very important film for obvious reasons. The lanky star, who painstakingly put his everything in every shot, has not got the kind of results he would have hoped for in recent times.

But he also feels that Bangaram has turned out well. The film went to floors sometime in the middle of last year and the team has assiduously worked on every aspect of the movie.

The story has been kept a closely-guarded secret. But sources say that it will have comedy, action and some emotions in a calibrated mix.

Raja, the urban face of Telugu `herodom', is playing a vital role.

There is plenty on the glamour front. Meera Chopra is the heroine. She has come to Telugu from Tamil. She can act, and was touted in Tamil as the next Simran. Whether that claim is an ambitious or realistic one we will soon see.

Reema Sen is also there. The Chitram girl after promising much in Telugu, has gone away to Tamil and Hindi. But she again feels that Bangaram will be a major film for her.

Trisha, who was said to dance for a number, now claims that she has an important part.

Vidyasagar, a Dharani favorite, has provided the music. The songs are said to be indeed special.

The music is set for release later this month.

AM Rathinam, has not spared any effort at big spending. In fact, he has lavished money in getting the feel for the film right. The action sequences are said to be one of the highlights of the movie.

The film must also be one for Pawan.
