"There is no filmmaker in these parts with out being influenced by Bharathiraja. Even after three decades, his 16 Vayadhinilae still has an impact on us. Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum will be another 16 Vayadhinilae," said Mani Ratnam.

The ace movie maker was speaking at the launch of 'Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum', Bharathiraja's comeback movie, at the latter's native village Allinagaram near Theni on Thursday. The event saw the participation of K Balachander, Balumahendra, Vairamuthu and other veterans.

The function was marked by celebrations that were unique to the village. Bharathiraja was brought to the venue accompanied by artistes performing traditional art forms like karagam, thapattam and kolattam.

Special prayers were performed and the villagers honoured Bharathiraja by offering goats and other gifts. In spite of heavy rain, people gathered in large numbers. In his address, Bharathiraja thanked everyone for their support.

'Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum' has music by GV Prakash and camera by B Kannan.
