Bhavani
`Bhavani' is an upcoming bilingual film in Tamil and Telugu. It is a remake of the 80s super hit film `Vyjayanthi IPS' which itself was a dubbed version of Telugu film `Karthavyam'. `Vyjayanthi IPS' was a super duper hit then and it made Vijayashanthi a household name over night. She also earned the name of Lady Super Star after the film.
The film is about a female police officer who fights against evil politicians. It is said the story is modeled on the famous Delhi cop Kiran Bedi, who is the first lady IPS officer in India.
The original writers of the story consider `Karthavyam' as their most original script. The writer director of Bhavani IPS, Kicha says he has changed the script drastically to make it look like an original film. Music is by Dhina.
In this remake Sneha replays Vijayashanthi as the female IPS officer. This is a major shift from the popular image of Sneha that of a homely girl next door. Sneha has performed tough stunts in the film taking risks. She has even done a daredevil bike chase. She also underwent special physical trainings to tune-up her body for looking as fit as an original lady super cop.
Kota Srinivasa Rao, Sampat and Manoj K. Jayan play the wicked political villains to the trigger happy Sneha. Vivek, Yasmin Khan, Ilavarasu, Brahmanandam, Manobala, Rajkapoor and Delhi Ganesh are also there in the cast.
The shooting of `Bhavani' started in November 2008 and was completed in 2009. Most of the shootings were done in places like Tirunelveli and Hyderabad.
`Bhavani' was expected to release in early 2010 but was postponed on too many occasions after announcing release dates. It is finally releasing on March 4, 2011.
