Okay, so it is time to make a final declaration - Vidya Balan has consolidated her place as the leading lady who can run a film 'apne dam par'. Though last few days of an all-around frenzy has made many stand up and acknowledge the might that she has displayed especially since the days of 'Paa', one still wanted to see how well does 'Kahaani' sustain after the initial euphoria. However with 24 crores already in its kitty and the film holding amazingly well in the second weekend as well, the word on the street is that Vidya is an actress to vouch for.

It is clear that she is bringing credibility to the films by merely coming on board and it won't be wrong to say that within a decade of being a part of the industry, she is now wearing the crown of female Aamir Khan. With her selective approach towards signing films and working in only those projects that give her ample scope to perform and make her presence felt, Vidya has consolidated her place as a woman of substance.

This is evident from the dream run that 'Kahaani' is enjoying which is now all set to hit at least the 45 crore mark now, hence coming close to being a superhit. It is one of those rare cases of a film seeing all around positive response from the cinegoers, especially with many making a repeat watch to relive the suspense element. For that one has to credit director Sujoy Ghosh who has rose like a phoenix and almost hit back with a vengeance. By establishing his stand as an able story teller, he is now someone to watch out for in the coming years.

On the other hand 'Chaar Din Ki Chandni' has been completely ignored amidst the craze surrounding 'Kahaani', 'Paan Singh Tomar' and to an extent 'Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya'. The film opened poorly, didn't see any escalation whatsoever over the weekend and then nosedived during the weekdays. In fact the film's collections were more or less same as 'Paan Singh Tomar' (in its second week) as both accumulated around 5 crores each.
