Veteran Bollywood actress Reema Lagoo passed away in Mumbai following a cardiac arrest early on Thursday morning, a family source said.

The 59-year-old Marathi TV and stage actress breathed her last at a private hospital where she was rushed shortly after midnight.

The actor was famous for playing the 'mother' in both movies and television. 'Shrimaan Shrimati' and 'Tu Tu Main Main' were among her popular TV serials.

Her most popular movies were 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun', 'Hum Saath Saath Hain', 'Maine Pyar Kiya' and 'Kal Ho Na Ho'.

She was currently working on TV serial Naamkaran on Star Plus.
