'Bommarillu' directed by debutant Bhaskar and produced by hat trick producer 'Dil' Raju with Siddharth and Genelia in the lead had completed 50 days successfully with packed houses on September 27 and is surging ahead to celebrate the 100-days function. To mark the success, popular Telugu film journal 'Cine Star', which had No. 1 readership among the film bucks, and one of the top class cloth stores 'Kala Mandir' together felicitated the entire 'Bommarillu' unit amidst several film personalities at Jayabheri Club in Hyderabad on September 29. Union minister Darsaka Ratna Dasari Narayana Rao attended the programme as chief guest, while K Raghavendra Rao, Kodi Ramakrishna, Dr D Ramanaidu participated in the programme as guests of honor. Noted producers CC Reddy, Lagadapati Sridhar, ML Kumar Choudary, besides the entire 'Bommarillu' unit members participated in the function.

Sridhar of Madhura Audio and Cinestar, speaking on the occasion says, 'It might be surprising that a normal film weekly felicitating a film unit. About one lakh magazines are among the circulation from various publications and there are about 10 lakh readers for these magazines. Hence, we thought we have the responsibility to recognize the real success of a film which was made with a good taste. We first planned to felicitate 'Sri Ramadasu' unit but feared that we are very in very low profile and may not organise such a grand function to felicitate such a big unit. Later, I planned it for the 'Godavari' unit, but deferred it because we only marketed the audio and it would become self-flattery. In order to satiate my urge to felicitate a film, it came to my mind about the success of 'Bommarillu' and implemented it. I sincerely thank 'Dil' Raju, and other dignitaries for giving us the opportunity.'

Producer 'Dil' Raju says, 'Here we have three big directors who had directed more than 100 films each, besides a producer, who had produced more than 100 films. I thank 'Cine Star' for getting us the blessings of all these top film personalities. Every one in the industry keep saying that they were giving preference to novices. But I personally introduced three directors to the film industry. Three more novices are ready with good subjects. I keep continuing to give chances to novices. Anyone who prepares a good story, taking a cue from these top directors and also keeping in view the commercial values, I welcome them. I also promise that I would produce more 'Bommarillu' kind of good films.'

Siddharth says, 'It is a memorable day in my life, because the great legends of Telugu cinema have gathered here to bless us. They all came here to express their opinions on the film in which I played the hero. I am very fortunate and happy to have such opportunity at a very young age.' Director Bhaskar says, 'I can't spell out words in front of such a huge gathering of film personalities. But one thing I can say is a 'Big Thanks' to one and all who gathered here.' Genelia says, 'Love makes my life beautiful. Thanks to all.'

Kodi Ramakrishna, who had directed more than 100 films so far, says, 'We should not talk anything about 'Bommarillu' now. Because the entire Andhra Pradesh is talking about the film for the past 50 days. More so in abroad as well. It is a great film made with a delicate point in our regular and real life, that is 'Bommarillu'. The film started off like a small film but changed the history of several big films. The audiences will never show bias. They will watch a film only if they like it, otherwise they don't even look at it. Even if you are ready to spend Rs 1 lakh, a tree will not wave its branches. It needs a fresh air. Like that, time has come for small-time movies. The success of 'Bommarillu' and 'Andala Ramudu' proved this point. In this film the heroine says that she doesn't want the hero and she did not love him. At that place the film ended. But director Bhaskar extended the film from that point in a nice way by maintaining good tempo and bagged the success. Whatever be the character, hero Siddharth played the role in a very natural way, without bothering about his image. The heroine, Genelia, also performed like a very innocent girl. Devisri Prasad gave melodious tunes without compromising at any point. Whatever we have in mind, we could not put it in writing without a white paper. The film's producer 'Dil' Raju has a clean and milk white heart. All the technicians and artistes worked hard and achieved success. I wish the film would also complete 100 days in a similar fashion.'

Producer CC Reddy says, 'Many producers are making films with violence as backdrop in their films. They had a strong sentiment that only such films will become super hits and hence could not deviate from the path to give good films to the audiences. But 'Dil' Raju produced a movie, which is really different from routine and also a good family entertainer. The film was weaved around on a delicate point and proved a huge commercial hit. The present day producers should emulate him.'

Dasari Narayana Rao says, 'In my 40-year film career, I had directed some 147 films. All through my life, I wished that there should be a good life for small budget films. More producers should come forward to produce small budget films, which are very good and appealing. I produced 'Sardar Paparayudu' with NT Ramarao in the lead in 28 days. I also created a record by producing 'Premabhishekam' with Akkineni Nageswara Rao as hero in 32 days. Are the present day producers and directors were able to make hit films like this? I can tell these producers and directors one thing. Prepare a good story on your own. Don't spend crores of rupees to buy stories from other States. We should do a film keeping in view the image of the hero. If the film's budget is going high, try to settle with a hero, who is available at your range. But don't play games with the industry. It is not just a couple of people who could survive in the film industry. The entire industry should live together.'

He further says, 'I had attended several 100-days functions. But for the first time, I attended a 50-days function which is 'Bommarillu'. Did the director use any technique in the film. No. It is a subject which came from pure and real life. The heroine's character, the hero's behavior — each of them are a story on its own. If there is no story, there is no film at all. There is another film which was released in recent times is 'Andalaramudu' in which Sunil played the hero. That is also a wonderful film and was directed by one of my disciples Deepthi. He too did not use any technique. Presently the directors are exposing two lakh negatives. Their schedules were spanning to more than 200 days. All those directors should learn from Bhaskar on how to make a good film. The producers should also be clear and demand their directors that they should complete the song or fight in a particular length of film. You specify what your budget and stick to it and don't go beyond it. In that case, every film will become a 'Bommarillu', each producer will be another 'Dil' Raju and every director will be a Bhaskar. All these have not come from some other world but they are one among us. Emulate them and bring out films with small budgets and let the Telugu film industry live happily.'
