What is it all about?

Akshay Kumar kick - gig hilarity is highly intoxicating and contagious for fans and b-town entertainment hungry souls. Viacom 18's `Boss' is so harmlessly eager to please the audience that only an utterly insensitive bollywood masala lover could object.

Anthony D'Souza comes out of `Blue' for this colorful, entertaining, masala packed paisa vasool remake of Malayalam blockbuster `Pokkiri Raja' that starred Mammotty, Prithviraj and Shriya Saran.

As we savor our thought provoking reality cookies in our creative ovens.. a dal chawal if spiced to perfection is always welcome for the entertainment hungry souls of bollywood. Boss certainly gives that `feel'.

The Story

Writers Farhad and Sajid give the north Indian Haryanvi flavor to the original Siby K. Thomas story where a transport giant Big Boss (Danny Denzongpa) spots a thirsty teenager and offers him water. Immediately Big Boss gets attacked and the teenager saves the life of Big Boss and gains his faith and his fate changes from an abandon son of school teacher Udaykrishnan Satyakant (Mithun Chakraborty) to Boss - the heir of Big Boss Empire of transport and crime. Situation see Boss torn between the life of his younger brother Shiv(Shiv pandit), his father and his mentor.. what happens is the crux of this entertainer.

What to look out for

Anthony D'Souza sticks to the golden rule of B-town masala fares and does what the genre orders.  Such movies doesn,t care much about the plot as the formula is the same but how the action sequences, hero's entry, the emotional moments, the climax are manipulated for the desired effect holds the key and Anthony does that convincingly for its target audience.

Boss is a hot mix of fun, action and emotion that overflows with Akshay Kumar's dazzling act. He is in supreme form in complete awe of his element at his `kicking' best giving one voila time to his fans and having a blast while doing so..Blending elements of Jim Carey, Jackie Chan and his own Khiladi brand for those highly entertaining zany fights and stunts. What a delight.

The year 2013 has turned special for Akshay Kumar.. the distinctive individuality in Special 26, The simplicity with ishtyle in OMG: Oh My God!, The terrific evil in OUATIM Dobara, and now this hilariously action packed kick ass show in Boss. How entertaining.

There are crazy moments in the film that has the capacity to bring the house down. But mentioning here will be a spoil sport. The writers give some good lines like `Maut ko log uhi baadnam karte hai, taklif toh Zindagi deti hai'. `Apne ko toh bas pani nikalna hai'.

The father son bonding is another highlight. Music which is already topping the charts is another major highlight and goes well with the narrative. Yo Yo Honey Singh title song is the pick of the lot. The remix of 'Har Kisiko Nahin Milta' has come up well. 'Appadi podu' Hindi version 'Hum Na Tode' is foot tapping and well picturised. 'Party All Night' is the current choice at night clubs and happening hangouts. Anal Arasu action is thrillingly entertaining. Laxman R. Utekar lense work is fantastic. Rameshwar S. Bhagat editing is crisp. Production values are top rate.

Shiv Pandit leaves his mark. Aditi Rao Hydari looks beautiful. Johny Lever is fine. Govind Namdev gets a tailor made role and he does well. Aakash Dabhade is good talent. Parikshit Sahni is alright. Mithun Chakraborty is extremely good and graceful. It's good to see Danny Denzongpa after a gap and the man still has the same fire in his eyes and charismatic screen presence.

Last but not the least Ronit Roy is simply brilliant as the bad man. Gets enough scope to show his credentials and delivers a power packed portray. After Udaan this will go down as his most accomplish work.

What not

The love track between Aditi is Shiv isn,t as cute and loving as it should have been. Having all the resources available at your disposal then why go for remakes. Sanjay Mishra, Sudesh Berry, Mukesh Tiwari and Shakti Kapoor are wasted.

Conclusion: `Boss' releasing on `International Boss Day' i.e. today is a not only a gift from Akshay to his fans worldwide but also unpretentiously entertaining and occasionally ingenious in those Khiladi's kick - gig moments. Go for it.
