The much hyped film that stars two big stars Dr Ambarish and Challenging star Darshan in father and son roles `Bul Bul' .Mathadkilva deserved to be short and precise instead of taking a long journey on silver screen of 160 minutes and 12 seconds.

A remake of Telugu film of 2010 `Darling' this Kannada film `Bul Bul'..Mathadakilva has some nostalgic moments and no doubt a `Darling' of box office Darshan has given right treat to his fans and family audience in his home production. Yet with talent, money, technique joining together there was no need for a remake from Toogudeepa Productions - prestigious banner in Karnataka.

The first half is lengthy especially the Switzerland portion of cooked up story with the villain by protagonist to release his friends from the clutches. Today the audiences are brilliant. Instead of repeating the same thing, it is told once they understand. The problem and solution is what they expect for any issues handled. As a matter of fact the Switzerland portion is on short time memory loss - Golf Fling Syndrome. We had seen the same in the recent hit film `Simple Agi Ondh Love Story' and it could have been brought down in length. Watching 2 hours 40 minutes social cinema is nothing but testing of patience.

Half a dozen friends of 1980 decide to celebrate with family members. The house in the village of Ramesh Bhat is chosen and all assemble with family.

Ambarish, Sihikahi Chandru, Sadhu Kokila, Tennis Krishna, Ashok old friends family come for rejoicing but the childhood love of Vijay (Darshan) son of Ambarish and Kaveri (Rachita Ram) daughter of Ashok is intact even after they grow up. The interest of Vijay coming to this family get together is to meet Kaveri. But before this he has got rid of a don's daughter by stitching a tragic story to release his friends.

As the things go well for Vijay in the village house he is in a sudden shock after a clash with one of the friend's son. Vijay is asked to get out of the house but Kaveri makes it clear that she is in love with Vijay. It is time for villains to enter this place. The don in city comes to this place because Vijay has deceived him by a tragic tale. It is final reels on the silver screen. Vijay and Ambarish come to the spot of kidnapped Kaveri place. It is power of Vijay that releases Kaveri from further problems.

It is a film for the image of Ambarish and Darshan. Both praise each other in dialogues. They have done good job. Darshan looks very handsome and he has `Navarasas' to emote in this film. Actions are mind blowing and dialogue delivery once again he reminds his father Togudeepa Srinivas the top actor of yesteryears.

When Ambarish says Kaveri Nam Swathu Yavathu bitkodalla..it is thunderous applause. This particular dialogue acquires prominence as the Kaveri water issue is not a solved crisis. Dr Ambarish now an MLA the dialogues acquires more prominence.

The new find Rachita Ram is superb. She gets lovely offers to her professional career from this film. Ramesh Bhat, Ashok, Sadhu Kokila, Chitra Shenoy, Tennis Krishna all appeal in their roles.

V Harikrishna has given bombastic tunes once again. For the combination of Dr Ambarish and Darshan the song Junior.enappa Senior..the costumes selection and choreography is very good. Two songs in Switzerland could have been reduced to one. Jagadaliruva Huchcharalli Naanu Obba..lyric imagination is very high - this song was enough in Switzerland portion.

Another peerless work has come from Krishna Kumar ace cameraman. Every frame is absorbing with good technical values.

Worth a dekko!

Score - 7/10
