Some high profile Kollywood stars contested the Assembly elections 2016 and the result has turned out to be mixed. Captain Vijayakanth the leader of the DMDK considered a major force has had a disappointing result as not only the party failed to get a single seat but the supremo himself lost in the Udumalpet constituency.

Similarly Supreme Star Sarathkumar the leader of Samathuva Makkal Katchi who contested from the Tiruchendur constituency on a ADMK ticket has also lost to DMK`s Anitha Radhakrishnan. However Karunaas has won by a sizeable margin in Thiruvadanai and DMK loyalist Vagai Chandrasekhar is leading by a a good margin in Velachery at the time of this writing.
