The quiet and sensible cameraman with 20 films to his credit from ‘Neela Megha Shama’ in 2000, Shekar Chandru is perturbed as he did not get the remuneration for his work in ‘Circus’ that was produced and directed by Dayal Padmanabhan. “I was behind ‘Circus’ holding the camera for more than 40 days doing all the work entrusted. On a friendship note I told director cum producer Dayal Padmanabhan to pay me later the remuneration of Rs.6 lakhs for ‘Circus’ cinematography. Now even after a year and half he has not paid a single paisa”, says Shekar Chandru in a choked voice.

“Some time back last year he asked me to cut down the remuneration as he has not made money from ‘Circus’. I said you can reduce Rs.1.5 lakh on friendship. ‘Circus’ starring Golden star Ganesh and Archana Gupta did not bite the fingers for Dayal Padmanabhan according to industry reports. Then how can he forget my remuneration”, asks Shekar Chandru.

Shekar Chandru has every reason to smile this week as on this Friday 18th June two of his cinematography films ‘Punda’ and ‘Krishnan Love Story’ are releasing all over Karnataka. For ‘Punda’ (a remake of ‘Polladhavan’ Tamil movie) Shekar Chandru used 75 percent of night effect.
