Mahesh Bhatt At Burmese Art Exhibition

Monday, September 02, 2013

It is known that the Bhatts stand up for what they believe in. The latest is when Mahesh and Pooja Bhatt inaugurated Pooja Bhatt's friend, curator Gaurav Yadav's collection of Burmese art at Sitara Studios, works that speak of the voice of the artists working in silence  yet making their voices heard. You see a pristine white  painting that displays serenity in meditation but on a closer look, you see it is made of newspaper clips of missing people and within the meditating posture lies a smouldering chimney. The scream is a collage made from the photographs of the dead from newspaper clips, there is a dictator crushing Burma's map like a pigeon in his hands, a painting made on currency notes that were banned, the monks protest with red taking centre amid black and white, each art has a unique story to tell.

Other that Mahesh and Pooja Bhatt, Shagufta Rafiq,  sufi singer Mudasir Ali and Nikhil Hemrajani of Sitara Studios were present at the exhibition.
