As we reported about the news doing rounds yesterday, it's confirmed. It's now officially 'Padma Bhushan' Dr. Kamal Hassan. His name was included in the 127 Padma Awardees announced yesterday. The veteran actor who's been enthralling the Indian audiences for over five decades expressed his gladness over the selection. He was given 'Padma Sri' in 1990 and with this, he's joined the ranks of the South Indian Superstars Rajinikanth and Chiranjeevi who've been conferred with 'Padma Bhushan'.

The 59-year-old actor, who has appeared in 190 films, has worked in films of following languages-Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. From hit movies like `Sadma`, `Chachi 420` in Bollywood to `Moondram Pirai`, `Nayagan` in Tamil cinema, Hassan`s career speaks volume about his success. There was a strong rumor last year itself that his name was omitted at the last moment due to the Vishwaroopam controversy.
