Post ‘Yeh Saali Zindagi’ and ‘Mumbhai Cutting’, filmmaker Sudhir Mishra has started on with his latest project, a political thriller.
Tentatively called as ‘Aur Devdas’ and also has ‘Pyaas’ as the working title, the film is an adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's Bengali novel Devdas and has Rahul Bhatt in the lead. However, Mishra in an interview has clarified that his film is not a remake of the popular film ‘Devdas’. According to sources, ‘Aur Devdas’ is a romantic film with a political angle to it - here the addiction of power brings the rift among the lovers.
The shooting of the film which started of late, has Richa Chadha plays Paravati aka Paro. Earlier Kajal Agarwal was roped in to play the Chandramukhi but then, she opted out of the film recently since she has too many work commitments on hand and was unable to fit into this project’s schedule.
Also starring Saurabh Shukla, Vipin Sharma, Vineet Singh and Anurag Kashyap among others, ‘Aur Devdas’ will be mostly shot in Lucknow.
